How Bad Do You Want It?

The video in this week’s entry was sent to me months ago, yet I have kept it as a constant reminder that what He has for me is for me, and that I am the only one who can keep myself from getting it.

When I am weary from fighting, when I fall asleep crying, when I cry out to Him for help, when I feel like giving up, when my friends disappear, I ask myself: How bad do you want it? I then take it one step further and ask: How bad do I want Him?

He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him. Every time I find myself faltering or getting weak, I realize it is because I have not been spending enough time with Him. Sometimes, I have even been guilty of trying to make things happen on my own. Have you ever heard from Him and then thought that things weren’t moving along fast enough, so you decided to take matters into your own hands, only to find yourself lost again?

I need some honest people to give me an “Amen” on that one. You know that you’re a control freak, but you love God. You know that you have a need to control your destiny, but you call out to Him when things get hard. You know that you need to leave old people and old behaviors behind, but you just can’t seem to do it. You ask Him if there is anything you can do to help them, instead of leaving them. You know what He told you to do, but just like a child, you do what you want to do and then ask Him for forgiveness.

If you are going to walk in your purpose and live the life that He intended for you—you have to seek Him. You have to spend time with Him. You have to be obedient to Him. You don’t need to consult your girlfriend; you don’t need to get everyone’s advice before you move on something He told you. You don’t need to seek confirmation and affirmation from the folks that you are trying so desperately to leave behind. If you truly want to walk in His will for your life, the question is: How bad do you want it?

As the video says, if you don’t want it as bad as you want to breathe, you’ll never have it. We should want God like we want to take a breath. We should seek Him like we are looking for the answers to the universe. We should spend time with Him like a potential mate—getting to know Him, letting Him into our hearts, trusting Him with our problems, and listening to every Word He says like we may never hear Him speak again.

He wants you to be successful, He wants abundance for you, He wants you to be happy. However, more than anything—He wants a relationship with you. How bad do you want it?

MIND: The enemy wants to keep your mind full of nonsense because it keeps you from focusing on Him and hearing from Him. The next time your thoughts get away from you, take a brief moment to pray and be still. Stop everything you are doing and breathe deeply. Ask the Spirit to guide your thoughts and your actions. Ideally, this is the way that you should begin and end each day. Calm yourself and listen. How bad do you want peace of mind?

BODY: You cannot run a strong race if your temple is not at peak performance. How bad do you want to be well? Aren’t you sick and tired of being sick and tired of being sick and tired of being sick and tired? If you are, it’s time to move and do something about it! Make up your mind that you want to live a healthy life as bad as you want to take your next breath. The healthier you are, the easier it will be to breathe in the blessing of life. Consult your physician before you make any drastic changes.

SPIRIT: Begin your day by spending your first, few waking moments in communion with Him. Before your feet hit the floor, take the time to thank Him for another day. Before you rush to get the kids or to get dressed, take the time to ask Him what His plan is for your day. Go a step further and spend a few minutes reading the Word before you check your e-mail. You are going to spend all day tweeting, facebooking, e-mailing, texting, and reading all types of materials. Give His Word the same attention that you give those things, and I guarantee that you will feel a shift in your Spirit.

"But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him." Hebrews 11:6
